Replacing the LCD panel

Attention:
Do not open your computer or attempt any repair before reading and understanding "Important Safety Information"
on page 1.
This section provides instructions on how to replace the LCD panel.
To replace the LCD panel, do the following:
1. Remove all media from the drives and turn off all attached devices and the computer. Then, disconnect
all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the computer.
2. Place a soft, clean towel or cloth on the desk or surface. Hold the sides of your computer and gently lay
it down so that the screen is against the surface and the cover is facing up.
3. Remove the computer cover. See "Removing the computer cover" on page 84.
4. Locate the LCD panel. See "Locating major FRUs and CRUs" on page 71.
5. Remove the frame foot. See Removing and reinstalling the frame foot
6. Remove the 21 screws that secure the LCD bracket to the front bezel.

7. Disconnect the cables of the components secured to the front bezel from the system board. Then, lift
the LCD bracket off the front bezel.
8. Disconnect the LCD cables from the display connectors on the system board and the converter board.

9. Connect the new LCD cables to the display connectors on the system board and the converter board.

10. Position the LCD bracket over the front bezel, ensure that the screw holes in the LCD bracket align with
the mounting stands in the front bezel.
