≥You haven't inserted a disc or the disc you inserted cannot be recorded on. Insert a disc the unit
can record onto. (page 10)
≥The disc is unformatted.
Format the disc so this unit can record on it. (page 41)
≥The write protect tab (page 87) on the cartridge is set to "PROTECT".
Use a ballpoint pen or similar to release the write protection.
≥Recording is not possible unless you set "Disc Protection" in "DISC INFORMATION" to "Off".

≥Timer recording will not be activated during formatting, dubbing, editing of JPEG pictures and
other such operations which are not by their nature suitable for interruption when they are being
carried out.
≥The unit switches to standby while making a timer recording if the disc runs out of space.
Use a disc that has enough space to record the programme.
≥The programme remains if you select weekly or daily setting. (pages 33 and 34)
≥The available recording time does not increase if you erase data written to the disc with the
DVD-RAM drive of a computer.

≥If there is a power failure or the plug is disconnected from the household AC outlet while
recording or editing, the programme may be lost or the disc may become unusable.
)We cannot offer any guarantee regarding lost programmes or discs. You will have to format
(for HDD, DVD-RAM) or use a new disc.
≥The PC card format is not valid with the unit.
)Format using FAT 12 or FAT 16 with other equipment or format the PC card with this unit.
≥The unit tried to display JPEG picture files that were in a folder level that is not valid.
≥The still picture file is not JPEG.
)This unit displays JPEG pictures that are in accordance with DCF standard.
≥Turn off and then turn on the unit again.
≥When there are a lot of folders and files, it may sometimes take a few hours.
≥When repeating copying or erasing, it may sometimes take a long time. Format the disc or PC
card.
≥The tray cannot be opened or closed while the JPEG pictures are played back and editing
screen is being displayed. Press [RETURN] (23) a few times to clear the screen.
≥Make sure the PC card has been slotted home firmly before attempting to remove.
≥If it comes to the time scheduled for timer recording, the recording may start even though you are
editing.
