Parallel Port — Connects a printer to your notebook
computer. You can change the LPT Mode in the Setup
program.

Monitor Port — Connects an external VGA/SVGA
monitor to your notebook computer.

MIDI/Game Port — Connects a joystick or MIDI device
to your notebook computer.
T
Mini-DIN PS/2 Keyboard Port — Connects to a 6-pin
standard PS/2-style keyboard.

SETTING SWITCHES

Depending on the model, your NEC Versa is equipped with
one or two dip switch bank(s) located underneath the palm
rest in front of the keyboard. (To access the switch bank(s),
reference the diagrams of the switch bank configurations
and follow the instructions in "Changing the Switch Set-
tings.") The switch banks have the following settings and
provide the functions noted.

BIOS Flash Enable — The default setting for this switch
is "OFF." Change the setting to "ON" to enable the
switch so that you can update the system basic
input/output system (BIOS) flash memory. See
"Updating the System BIOS" for details about this
procedure.

Password Override Switch — The default setting for
this switch is "OFF." If you forget your password and
cannot access the data on your NEC Versa, change the
setting to "ON." (See "Changing Switch Settings" later
in this chapter.) Then go into the Setup utility and
specify a new password. Save your changes and Exit
Setup. Reset the switch to "OFF."
