Clean-OutTool
Neveruseyour handsto clearaclogged chuteassembly.Shutoff engine
and remainbehindhandles until all movingparts havestopped before
usingthe clean-out t ool to clearthe chuteassembly.
Thechutedean-outtool isconveniently f astened to the rearofthe augerhousing
with amountingclip.Should snowandicebecome lodgedin thechuteassembly
duringoperation, p roceed asfollowsto safelycleanthe chuteassembly a ndchute
opening:
1.
Release b oththe AugerControl a ndthe Drive Control.
2.
Stopthe enginebyremoving the ignitionkey.
3.
Remove t he clean-out t ool from the clipwhichsecures i t to the rearof the
augerhousing.
4.
Usetheshovel-shaped e ndof the clean-out t ool to dislodge andscoopany
snowandicewhichhasformedinandnearthe chuteassembly.
5.
Refasten t he clean-outtool to the mountingdip on the rearof the auger
housing, r einsertthe ignitionkeyandstartthe snowthrower'sengine.
6.
Whilestandinginthe operator's position(behind the snowthrower), e ngage
the augercontrolforafewseconds toclearanyremaining snowandicefrom
the chuteassembly.
BeforeStarting Engine
Read,understand,andfollow all instructions a ndwarnings onthe
machineandin this manualbeforeoperating.
Oil
Theunit wasshipped with oil inthe engine.Check oil levelbeforeeachoperationto
ensure adequate oil in the engine.
flO?E:Besureto check the engineonalevelsurface with the enginestopped.

Remove t he oil filler cap/dipstick andwipethe dipstickclean.
2.
Insertthe cap/dipstick into the oil filler neck,but do NOT screwit in.
3.
Remove t he oil filler cap/dipstick. I fthe levelislow,slowlyaddoil (5W-30,
with aminimumclassification o f SF/SG) until oil levelregisters betweenhigh
(H)andlow (L).
4.
flOTE: D onot overfill.Overfillingwith oil mayresultin enginesmoking, h ard
startingor sparkplug fouling.
Replace a ndtighten cap/dipstick firmly beforestartingengine.
Gasoline
Use automotivegasoline (unleaded or low leadedto minimizecombustion chamber
deposits) w itha minimumof87 octane.Gasoline w ith up to 10%ethanolor 15%
MTBE (Methyl T ertiaryButylEther) canbeused. N everuseanoil/gasoline mixture
or dirty gasoline. A void getting dirt, dust,or waterinthe fuel tank.DO NOT useE85
gasoline.
Refuel i n awell-ventilated areawith the engine stopped.Donot smokeor
allowflamesor sparks in the area wherethe engineisrefueled or where
gasoline isstored.
Donot overfill the fueltank.Afterrefueling,makesurethe tankcapisclosed
properly andsecurely.
Becareful n ot to spillfuelwhen refueling.Spilled fuel orfuel vapormay
ignite.If anyfuel isspilled,makesurethe areaisdry before startingthe
engine.
Avoidrepeatedor prolonged contactwith skinor breathingofvapor.
Useextreme carewhen handling gasoline.Gasolineis extremely
flammable andthe vaporsareexplosive.Neverfuel the machineindoorsor
while the engine ishotor running. Extinguish cigarettes,cigars,pipes and
othersourcesof ignition.

Clean aroundfuelfill beforeremoving capto fuel.
Afuel levelindicatoris located inthe fuel tank.SeeFigure15inset.Be
carefulnotto overfill.Filltank until fuel reaches t he fuellevelindicator t o
allowspace for fuelexpansion.
Starting The Engine
Alwayskeephands andfeet clear of moving parts. Donot usea pressurized
starting fluid. Vaporsareflammable.
flOTE: A llowthe engineto warmupfor afewminutesafter starting.Theengine will
not develop full poweruntil it reaches o peratingtemperatures.

Makecertainboththe augercontrolanddrivecontrolarein thedisengaged
(released) position.
2.
Insertkeyinto slot.Makesureit snaps into place.Donot attemptto turn the
key.
NOTE: Theenginecannotstartwithoutthe keyfully insertedinto the
ignitionswitch.
ElectricStarter
Theelectric starter isequippedwith a groundedthree-wire power plug,
andisdesignedto operate on 120voltAChousehold current. It must be
usedwith a properly groundedthree-prong receptacleat all times to avoid
the possibilityof electrk shock.Follow all instructions c arefully prior to
operatingthe electricstarter. DONOT useelectric starter in the rain.
Determine thatyourhome's wring isathree-wiregrounded system. A ska licensed
electrician if youarenot certain.
Ifyouhavea grounded three-prongreceptacle, proceed asfollows.If youdonot
havethe properhouse wiring, DO NOT usethe electricstarterunderanyconditions.

Pluganextension cordinto the outletlocated on the engine's surface. P lug
the otherendofextension cordintoathree-prong120-volt,grounded, A C
outlet inawell-ventilated area.
Theextensioncordcan beany length, but must be ratedfor 15ampsat
125volts,groundedand ratedfor outdoor use.
