Wide-screen picture formats

Select a wide mode to change the picture format. You can enlarge the picture to fill the wide TV screen (16:9
aspect ratio). In addition, you can stretch a normal picture (4:3 aspect ratio) to fill the wide TV screen.
Note:
The picture format information of the present broadcasting programme may be received as WSS (Wide
Screen Signalling). When AUTO mode is selected for wide mode and the WSS signal is received, this
TV automatically selects the optimum wide mode corresponding to the WSS signal. However, in the
case of weak WSS signal reception, this function may not work correctly. In this case, select the
optimum wide mode manually.
Automatic wide selection (AUTO mode)
Press
(WIDE MODE) repeatedly to select AUTO. Your TV automatically selects the optimum wide
mode to suit the current programme's picture format.
Note:
This function may not work correctly depending on the programme. In this case, select the optimum
wide mode manually.
Manual format selection
Press
(WIDE MODE) repeatedly to select a wide mode.
4:3
Use to view a normal picture (4:3 aspect ratio) unchanged.
PANORAMA:
Stretches the left and right sides of a normal picture to fill the
screen, in a way that does not appear unnatural.
FULL
Use to expand a widescreen picture equally on the whole screen.
14:9
Use to expand a picture with a 14:9 aspect ratio.
Notes:
• The WIDE MODE feature is not available in the PC mode.
• If the signal is transmitted in letterbox format the black bars top and bottom will remain.
