The oil level must be within the area
marked on the dipstick.
Checking the oil in a cold engine:
• Wipe the dipstick clean before checking the
level.
• Check the oil level using the dipstick. The
oil level must be between the MIN and
MAX marks.
• If the level is close to the MIN mark, start
by topping up with 0.5 litres of oil. Top up
until the oil level is nearer the MAX than
the MIN mark on the dipstick. See page
161-162 for volumes.
Checking the oil in a warm engine:
• Park the car on a level surface, switch off
the engine and wait 10-15 minutes to give
the oil time to run back down to the sump.
• Wipe the dipstick clean before checking the
level.
• Check the oil level using the dipstick. The
oil level must be between the MIN and
MAX marks.
• If the level is close to the MIN mark, start
by topping up with 0.5 litres of oil. Top up
until the oil level is nearer the MAX than
the MIN mark on the dipstick. See 161-162
for volumes.

Do not spill oil onto the hot exhaust manifold
due to the risk of fire.
