Adjusting the white balance

White balance refers to the color of neutral white on the screen. Neutral white is the result of equal
ratios of red, green, and blue signals. You can adjust the white balance of the incoming video signal
by individually changing the red, green, and blue signal values. Use the RED, GREEN, and BLUE
adjustment buttons to change the respective intensity. Refer to FIG. 11 for more information.
Neutral white can vary from a warm white (more red than blue, giving the white a mild pink tint) to
a cool white (more blue than red, giving the white a mild blue tint).

Adjusting horizontal size and tracking

Horizontal Size defines the horizontal frequency. It is important that this frequency closely match
the original horizontal frequency generating the analog video signal. Tracking synchronizes the
relative phase of the pixel sampling clock to the incoming video signal.
If the Horizontal Size or Tracking settings are incorrect, the video window image may display one
or more vertical bars (noise). The screen image may also flicker or seem out of focus. Because the
Horizontal Size and the Tracking settings can affect the noise level, the general rule for eliminating
noise is as follows:
!
!
To adjust the Horizontal Size and Tracking settings:
1. Increase/decrease the Horizontal Size setting by pressing UP and DN on the H SIZE
adjustment button. When you adjust the Horizontal Size setting, you will see vertical bands of
noise or distortion on the screen. Examine the noise level and adjust this value until the noise
or distortion is uniform across the entire screen.
2. Increase/decrease the Tracking setting by pressing UP and DN arrows on the TRACKING
adjustment button.
3. Continue to adjust the Tracking setting until you eliminate the noise.

SLOT
First, adjust the Horizontal Size setting until the noise is uniform across the entire screen.
Then, adjust the Tracking setting to eliminate the noise. Tracking synchronizes the pixel
clock to the incoming video signal.
