Design Guide for the Alcatel OmniPCX Enterprise – Mobile IP Touch
Due to the effects of packetization and de-packetization on end-to-end delay and voice quality,
Alcatel's MIPT VoWLAN R1.1.1 solution offers no support for voice compression. Only G.711
(without VAD) encoding is available. Alcatel offers no support for G.723 or G.729 on MIPT
terminals at this time. This restriction applies to all MIPT call flows, even in inter-IP Domain
communications where negotiated sessions will default to the higher bandwidth G.711 coding.
Only Alcatel WLAN infrastructure and approved third-party infrastructure components are supported.
In cases where customers wish to implement Alcatel's MIPT VoWLAN solution on and existing non-
Alcatel/non-Aruba wireless LAN infrastructure, a Special Deal Process Form must be submitted for
evaluation and review prior to customer order.
No multi-site roaming is supported in the MIPT R 1.1.1 offer. Customers seeking a solution with
strong multi-site roaming capabilities should consider DECT/PWT technology.
Handover from Access Point to Access Point within a single configuration is possible, but roaming
from one node to another is forbidden at this time.
