Backup

To run ZDB of an existing SQL Server ZDB specification:
Schedule a backup using the Data Protector Scheduler.
Start an interactive backup using the Data Protector GUI or CLI.
Prerequisites
The same drive letters, on which the source volumes to be replicated reside on
the application system, must exist on the backup system to enable successful
mounting of the target volumes. If the same drive letters do not exist on the backup
system, the backup fails. The drive letters on the application and backup systems
must be the same also in case of nested mount points.
Considerations
Your session will fail if:
You start ZDB, restore, or instant recovery using the same source volume on the
application system at the same time. A session must be started only after the
preceding session using the same source volume on the application system finishes.
SQL Server services are not running when the backup starts.
To configure a ZDB, create a Data Protector SQL Server ZDB specification.

Creating ZDB specifications

Create a ZDB specification, using the Data Protector Manager.
1.
In the Context List, click Backup.
2.
In the Scoping Pane, expand Backup Specifications, right-click MS SQL Server,
and click Add Backup.
