If you are recording
or playing
back a tape, the words "Not

will flash.
To correct this, stop the tape.

You will see the menu for automatically
memorizing
chan-
nels. If you are using a satellite
receiver,
press the ADJUST
buttons
to selec_ "Sat. receiver."
Then u_e ENTER
button
to
select correct code for your satellite
receiver.
Select "1" if you
are using
an RCA satellite
receiver;
seh!ct "2" if you are using
a Primestar
satellite
receiver;
and selec: "3" if you are using a
Sony satellite
receiver.
Now you can sel,_ct all of the channels
coming from your satelhte
receiver.
If you are not using a satellite
receiver,
make sure

Using the list below as a reference,
press the ADJUST
but-
tons to select the kind of antenna
you connected.
• If you are using a cable box that sends signals
to your VCR
on only one channel
and can be opera, ted by a remote
control,
choose "Cable box only," and skip to step _, below.
• If you are using any other cable combination,
including
a
cable box with an A/B switch, choose "Cable."
• If you are using an antenna
that receives
only over-the-air
broadcasts,
such as "rabbit ears" or a roof-mounted
an-
tenna,
choose "Indoor/outdoor
ant. '_
After you have selected,
press the ENTER
button.

If you choose "Cable" or "Indoor/outdo.or,"
an on-screen
mes-
sage and the display on the front of your VCR will show you
that the VCR is memorizing
the station s you can receive. You
can cancel the memorization
at any time by pressing
CAN-
CEL on the remote
control. After the VCR has programmed
all the channels,
the screen will return
the VCR's picture.
Automatic
programming
may include
vacant
channels
if there are
stray signals
or noise on those channels.
]if this occurs, you can
manually
delete the channels
using the procedure
in the section
"Adding and deleting
channels."
Ifyouchoose"Cable boxonly,"
You need to tell the VCR which manufacturer
makes
your cable
box, and on which channel
the cable box sends a signal.

You will see the screen as shown to the left. The word "Brand
code" will be highlighted.
Press the ADiFUST buttons
or the
number
buttons
to select the manufacturer's
code number
for
your cable box. The codes are listed on the next page:
