Troubleshooting
Thistroubleshooting guideis providedto helpyou to find the causeof some
commoncomplaints.
COMPLAINT:Engineis hardto startor does not startat all. Somethingis
probably wrongwith the fuel systemor ignitionsystem.
CAUTION
Failingto troubleshoot a problemcorrectlycandamageyourScooter.
Improper repairsor adjustments maydamagethe vehicle. Such
damagemay not be coveredunderwarranty. If you are not sureabout
the properaction,consultyour authorizedservicecenteror BAJA
INC.aboutthe problem.
FuelSupply Check
1.
Makesurethere is adequatefuel in the fuel tank.
2.
Checkthatthe ignitionswitch is in the "RUN" position.
3.
Makesurethere is enoughfuel reachingthe carburetor f rom the fuel
tank.
Drainingfuel from the carburetor could be hazardous.
Fuelcouldcatchfire ifyou do not handleit properly.
When drainingthe carburetor, b e sure to shutthe engineoff. Do not
smoke,and neverdrainor refuelin an areawherethereare open
flames or sparks. Do not spillthe fuel oryou may createa fire hazard.
Disposeof drainedfuel properly.
a.
Loosenthe drainscrewwhich islocatedunderthe carburetor.Drainthe
fuel from the carburetor intoa container.
b.
Tightenthedrainscrew.
c.
Runtheenginefor a few seconds. Shut off engine.
d.
Loosenthe drainscrewand checkthatthe carburetorisfilled backup
withfuel.
e.
If fuel is reachingthe carburetor, t he ignitionsystemshouldbe checked
next.
