iNSTALLiNG THE WATER LiNE

Install tile shutoff valve on the nearest flequenfly used
drinking water line.
m SHUT OFF THE MAIN WATER SUPPLY
AND UNPLUG REFRIGERATOR
Turn on the nearest fhucet countedclockwise long
enough to clear tile line of water.
[] DRILL THE HOLE FOR THE VALVE
Choose a location fbr ttle val_,e that is easily
accessible. It is best to connect into tile side of a
ve_tica] water pipe. When it is necessary to connect
into a horizontal watm pipe, make the connection
to tile top or side, raffler than at tile bottom, to
avoid drawing off any sediment flom the water pipe.
Drill a 1/4" bole in tile water pipe (even if using a
selfpie_cing valve), using a sharp bit. Remove any
brats resulting flom drilling tile bole in tile pipe.
Take care not to allow water to drain into the drill.
Failme to drill a 1/4" hole may result in reduced
ice production or smaller cubes.
FASTEN THE SHUTOFF VALVE
Fasten tile shutoff valve to tile cold water pipe with
tile pipe clamp.
Tighten tile clamp screws until tile sealing washer
begins to swell.
NOTE: Do not overtigbten or you may crush tile
robing. Washer

ROUTE THE TUBING
Route tile tubing between the cold water line and
the refrigerator.
Route tile tubing through a bole drilled in tile wall
or floor
(behind tile refligerator
or adjacent
base
cabinet) as close to tile wall as possible.
NOTE: Be sure tbe_e is sufficient ext_a tubing to
allow tile refiige_ator
to move out fiom
tile wall
after installation.
CONNECT THE TUBING
TO THE VALVE
Place the compression nut and fenule (sleeve)
ff_r coppm tubing onto tile end of tile tubing and
connect it to tile shutoff valve.
Make sure the tubing is dilly inserted into the valve.
Tighten tile compression nut securely:
For plastic tubing flom a GE SmartConnecff"
Reflige_ator Tubing kit, insert the molded end
of tile tubing into tile shutoff valve and tighten
compression nut until it is band-fight; then tighten
one additional turn with a wrench. Overfigbtening
may cause leaks.

FLUSH OUT THE TUBING
Turn tile main water supply
on counterclockwise and flush
out tile tubing until tile water
is clear.
Shut the water off at the
water valve after about one
quart (1 liter) of water has
been flushed through tile tubing.
