Driving the Riding Mower Forward
Keepall movement o f the drivecontrolleversslow and smooth.
Abruptmovement o f the controlleverscan affectthe stabilityof the
ridingmowerand couldcausethe ridingmowerto flip over,which
may resultin seriousinjuryor deathto the operator.
1. Slowlyand evenlymovebothdrivecontrol leversforward.The
riding mowerwill start to moveforward.See Figure15.

As thecontrol leversare pushedfartherforwardthe speedof the
riding mowerwill increase.
Toslow the ridingmowermovethe controlleversrearwardto
attainthe desiredspeed,or move thecontrol leverstothe neutral
positionto stop the ridingmower.
Alwaysmaintainyourgraspon the drivecontrollevers.Donot
releasethe leversto slow the ridingmoweror to returnto neutral.
Turning the Riding mower While Driving Forward
When reversing the directionof travel,we recommendperforming
gradual'U turns wherepossible.Sharperturns increasethe possibil-
ity of turf defacement,and couldaffect controlof the ridingmower.
IALWAYS sow the r d ng mowerbeforemakng sharpturns.
Toturn the riding mowerwhiledrivingforward,movethe controllevers
as necessaryso thatone leveris rearwardof theother.The riding
mowerwill turn in the directionof the rearwardcontrol lever.
1. Toturn to the left, movethe left drivecontrollever rearwardof the
