4. Turn o nthe water supply.
5. From the tractor operator's
seat, start the engine and e ngage the PTO.
Allow t orun as needed.
Disengage
the PTO and stop t he engine.
6. Turn o ffthe water supply.
7. Pull back t he lock collar ofthe nozzle adapter todisconnect
the
adapter from the nozzle.
8. Repeat the previous steps t oclean t he deck u sing t henozzle at
the other end ofthe deck.
CLEANING
THE SPINDLE
PULLEYS
Oncea monthremovethe beltcoversto removeanyaccumulation of
grassclippingsfrom aroundthe spindlepulleysand V-belt.Cleanmore
often whenmowingtall, dry grass.
USING THE TRANSMISSION
BYPASS
RODS
If forany reasonthe tractorwill notdriveor youwish to move the
tractor,the two hydrostatic transmissions are equippedwith a bypass
rod that will allowyouto manuallymovethetractorshort distances.
Do nottow the tractor,evenwith thebypassrod engaged.Serious
transmission damagewill resultfrom doingso.

Fromjust in frontof the two reartires, locatethe transmission
bypassrods.Referto Figure32.

Pull one rod towardthe frontof the tractoruntilthe flangeon the
rod is forwardof the keyholeslot in the frameassembly.
3.
Lowerthe bypassrod intothe keyholeslot and releaseso the rod
flangeis againstthefront of the frame bracket.
4.
Repeattheaboveprocedureto engagethe other bypassrod on
the othersideof the tractor.
5.
After movingthe tractor,disengageboth bypassrods. Lift the rod
and guidethe flangeof the rod backthroughthe largercircular
openingof the keyhole,then releasethe rod.
NOTE:The tractorwill not drivewith the bypassrods in the engage
position.
ADJUSTMENTS
Adjusting
RH & LH Drive Control
Levers
The RH and LH drivecontrolleverscan be adjustedup or downand
fore-and-aftforthe comfortof the operator.Properdrivecontrollever
and seatadjustmentwill resultin thefollowing:
1.
Inthe neutralpositionwith handson the controllevers,the opera-
tot's upperarms shouldbe relaxedand approximately verticaland
the operator'sforearmsshouldbe approximately horizontal.
2.
Inthe full forwardposition,the operator'sbackshouldstayin
contactwith the seat back and the controlleversshouldnot
contactoperator'slegs.
3.
Inthe full reverseposition,thecontrol leversshouldnotcontact
the operator'slegsor torso.
4.
Setthe seatto thepreferredoperatingposition.Theadjustment
leveris locatedunderthe frontedge of the seat.The seat hasfive
inchesof front-to-rear a djustmentavailable.
5.
Checkfactory settingsof control leversforthe conditionslisted
above.
NOTE:If controlleveradjustments are required,heightadjustments
shouldbe madepriorto angularadjustments.
Toadjust the heightof the drivecontrol levers:
1.
Removethe nuts fromthe control levermountingbolts.See
Figure33.

Removethe bolts and controlleverand repositionto the second
set of holesinthe mountingblock.
3.
Reinstall t he bolts and nuts,and tightento 28-34 ft-lbs.
4.
If angularadjustmentsare also required,nuts can be tightened
untilsnugat this point.
5.
Thesameadjustments s houldbe madeto bothsidesof themower.
