CAUTION:
HP strongly discourages carpeting within 6.0 m (20 ft.) of the disk array. Carpeting may shed dust
that can cause problems with the disk array.
CAUTION:
If your computer room has carpeting, place static discharge mats so that personnel must walk across
them before touching any part of the array. Failure to comply with this precaution can result in
equipment damage through static discharge.

XP24000 and XP20000 floor clearance requirements

The total floor clearance required for the disk array includes:
• The actual space required by the equipment.
• Service clearance — the floor space required to access the disk array. Never use this space for
storage. The service clearance for the XP24000 and XP20000 disk array rack is 30 inches in the
rear and 30 inches in the front for normal maintenance.
Up to 48 inches in the front is required for installation of a disk chassis or disk controller upgrade.
• Additional space required to properly distribute the equipment weight on your computer room's
floor. The amount of additional space required depends on your floor load rating. For more in-

Raised floor cutouts

A complete installation typically requires the following floor cutouts in a raised-floor facility.
Standard (single) rack configuration:
• One floor cutout for the power cords and data cables of the computer equipment rack
Expansion (dual) rack configuration:
• One floor cutout for the power cords and data cables of the rack
• One floor cutout for the power cords and data cables of the expansion rack
Raised floor panels vary in size globally, but all create virtual grid lines or seams where panels come
together. These seams are ideal for positioning computer racks on the raised floor.

XP20000 cutouts

The figures in this section provide dimensions for floor cutouts for electrical cables for XP20000 disk
arrays. The figures reference the location of rack attributes aligned with raised floor seams to provide
critical dimensions for floor cutouts.
