Charging While Connecting to a Computer
When connecting tile camera to a computer via tile supplied USB cable while Auto
(default setting) is selected for tile Charge by computer option ([_168) in tile
setup menu, tile battery inserted into tile camera is automatically charged using
power supplied by tile computer.

to a Computer" ([_141 ) for more information on connecting the camera to a computer.
Power-on Lamp
The following dlart explains power-on lamp status when the camera is connected to a
computer.
Status Description

Glows (green) Battery not charging. Charging is complete when the power on
amp stops blinking orange and glows green.
Flickers torange) • Operating temperature range exceeded. Charge the battery
indoors with an ambient temperature of 5°C to 35°¢ (41°F to
95°F) before use.
• A USB cable is not correctly connected or the battery is faulty.
Reconnect the USB cable correctly ot replace the battery.
• Computer is in sleep mode and does not supply power. Reboot
a computer.
• The battery cannot be charged as computer's specifications or
settings does not support power supply to the camera.

_1_ Notes on Charging with Connection to a Computer
• The battery cannot be charged, nor can data be transferred, when the camera is connected to a
computer he.re the camera_ date and time have been set (_22). If the camera_ clock battery
(_ 156) has been exhausted, the date and time must be reset before the battery can be charged
or images can be transferred with connection to a computer, in this case, use the Charging AC
Adapter EH 68P (_ 18) to charge the battery and then set the camera's date and time.
• If the camera is turned off, charging will also stop,
• If a computer enters sleep mode while charging, charging will stop and the camera may be turned off.
• When disconnecting the camera from a computer, turn the camera off and then disconnect the
USB ca ble.
• About six hours are required to charge a fully exhausted battery. Charging time increases when
images are transferred while the battery is charging.
• When the camera is connected to a computer, an application installed on the computer, such as
Nikon Transfer, may start, if the ca mera was connected to the computer for the sole purpose of
charging the battery, exit the application.
• The camera turns offautomadcally if there is no communication with the computer for 30 minutes
after the battery has finished charging.
• Depending upon computer specifications, settings, and power supply and allocation, it may be
impossible to charge the battery inserted into the camera via computer connection.
