P, S, A, M Modes (Setting the Exposure for Shooting)
Option
_ Description
When Single AF (default setting) is selected, the camera
focuses only while the shutter-release button is pressed
Autofocus mode halfway. When Full-time AF is selected, the camera _51
focuses even when the shutter-release button is not
_ressed halfway. You may hear the sound of the camera
focusing.
Adjust the flash output. Use this option when the flash is _'_52
Flash exp. comp. too bright or too dark. The default setting is 0.0.
Noise reduction Set the strength of the noise reduction function that is
filter normally performed when recording the picture. The _52
default setting is Normal.
Prevent loss of contrast details in highlights and shadows _'_53
Active D-Lighting when shooting images. The default setting is Off.
Save user settings The current settings are stored in mode dial U ([_)63). 64
Reset user settings The settings saved to mode dial U are reset. 64
When the zoom control is operated when set to On, the
camera changes in steps to the focal length (equivalent to
35 mm [135] format of angle of view) of the zoom lens that
Zoom memory is set in advance.

for focal length selection. Press the _) button to switch
the On [_]/Off setting, then press the multi selector •
to apply the selection.
When tile camera is turned on, the zoom position moves
Startup zoom to the focal length (equivalent to 35mm [135] format of _54
position 2 angle of view) of the zoom lens that is set in advance. The
default setting is 24 mm.

Select the Fn button function in the setup menu ([_)108), and then assign a setting menu
to be displayed when the Fn (FUNC) button is pressed.
