Step 3 Frame a Picture
Using
the
Zoom
Rotate tile zoom control to activate tile optical zoom.
• To zoom in so that tile subject fills a larger area of the
frame, rotate toward T (telephoto zoom position).
• To zoom out so that tile area visible increases in tile
frame, rotate toward W (wide-angle position).
• Rotating tile zoom control all tile way in either
direction adjusts tile zoom quickly, while rotating tile
control partially adjusts tile zoom slowly (except
during movie recording).
• A zoom indicator is displayed at the top of the monitor
when the zoom control is rotated.
• The zoom can also be operated by rotating the side
zoom control (_3)
toward T or W.

Digital Zoom and Interpolation
Unlike the optical
zoom,
the digital zoom
uses a digital
imaging
process
known
as interpolation
to
magnify
images,
resulting
in slight deterioration
of image quality
depending
on the image
size

and digital
zoom
magnification.

zoom is increased
beyond

position,
interpolation
is initiated

also turns
