A noise can be heard from the compact power adapter.
- A faint sound can be heard while the compactpower adapter is connectedto a power outlet.
This is not a malfunction.
The battery pack is exhausted extremely quickly even at normal temperatures.
- The battery may have reachedthe end of its battery life. Buy a new battery pack.
Recording
Pressing START/STOPwill not start recording.
- Youcannot record while the camcorder is writing previous recordings onto the memory
(while the ACCESS indicator is on or flashing). Wait until the camcorder has finished.
- The memory is full or it already contains the maximum number of scenes (3,999 scenes).
Deletesome recordings (_ 57, 106) or initialize the memory(_[_140) to free some space.
The point where STARWSTOP was pressed does not match the beginning/end of the
recording.
- There is a slight interval between pressing START/STOPand the actual start/end of record-
ing. This is not a malfunction.
The camcorder will not focus.
- Autofocus doesnot work on the subject. Focus manually (_ 76).
- The lens or InstantAF sensor is dirty. Cleanthe lens or sensor with a soft lens-cleaning cloth
(_ 199). Never usetissue paper to clean the lens.
When a subject flits across in front of the lens, the image appears slightly bent.
- This is a phenomenontypical of CMOSimage sensors.Whena subject crossesvery quickly in
front of the camcorder, the image may seem slightly warped. This is not a malfunction.
Changing the operating mode between recording (O)/record pause (Q||)/playback (1_-)
takes longer than usual.
- Whenthe memorycontains a large number of scenes, some operationsmay take longerthan
usual. Save your recordings (_[_1133) and initialize the memory (_ 40).
Movies or photos cannot be recorded properly.
- This may occur as movies and photos are recorded/deleted overtime. Save your recordings
(_ 133) and initialize the memory (_ 40).
Cannot record a photo in _ mode.
- Youcannot take photos in this mode if _ _ [SimultaneousRecording[ is setto [Off]
(_ 114), or if either the digital zoom(_ 157) or a digital effect (_ 70) is activated. Also,
photos cannot be recordedat [LW 3264x1840] size while the digital tele-cenverter (_[_180)
is activated.
