Oncethe engine starts,releasestarterbutton.
6.
As the enginewarms,slowlyrotatechokecontrolto theOFF
position.If the enginefalters,quicklyrotatechoke controlback to
FULL 14D"I t henslowlyintothe OFF positionagain.
7.
Whendisconnecting the extensioncord, alwaysunplugthe end
at the three-prongwall outletbeforeunpluggingthe oppositeend
from the snowthrower.
Recoil Starter
1.
Rotatechoke controlto FULL IJl
choke position(coldengine
start).
NOTE: If the engineis alreadywarm, placechoke controlin the OFF
insteadof FULL IJ|.

Pushthe primertwo or threetimes forcold enginestart, making
sureto covervent hole in the centerof the primerwhenpushing.
NOTE: DONOT useprimerto restarta warm engineafter a short
shutdown.
NOTE:Additionalprimingmaybe necessaryif the temperatureis
below15° Fahrenheit.

Graspthe recoilstarterhandleand slowlypull the rope out. At the
pointwhereit becomesslightlyharderto pull the rope,slowly
allowthe rope to recoil.
4.
Pull the starterhandlewith a firm,rapid stroke.Do notrelease
the handleand allowit to snapback.Keepa firm hold on the
starterhandleand allow it to slowlyrecoil.
5.
As the enginewarms,slowlyrotatethe chokecontrolto the OFF
position.If the enginefalters,quicklyrotatethe chokecontrol
back to the FULL I,_1 positionand thenslowlyinto the OFF
positionagain.
NOTE:Allowthe engineto warm up for a few minutesafter starting.
The enginewill notdevelopfull poweruntilit reachesoperating
temperatures.
STOPPING
THE ENGINE
Runenginefor a few minutesbeforestoppingto helpdry off any
moistureon the engine.
Movethrottlecontrolto STOP
1.

Removethe ignitionkey and store in a safe place.
3.
Wipeall snowand moisturefrom the areaaroundthe engineas
wellas the area in and aroundthe drivecontrol and augercontrol.
Also,engageand releasebothcontrolsseveraltimes.
TO ENGAGE
DRIVE
1.
With thethrottlecontrol in the Fast_
position,moveshift lever
intoone of the six forward(F) positionsor two reverse(R)
positions.Selecta speedappropriatefor the snow conditionsand
a paceyou'recomfortablewith.
NOTE: Whenselectinga Drive Speed,usethe slowerspeedsuntil
you are comfortableand familiarwith theoperationof the snow
thrower.
2.
Squeezethe drivecontrolagainstthe handlethe snowthrower
will move.Releaseit and drivemotionwill stop.
NOTE:NEVERrepositionthe shift lever(changespeedsor direction
of travel)withoutfirst releasingthedrive controland bringingthesnow
throwerto a completestop.Doingso will resultin premature wearto
the snowthrower'sdrivesystem.
TO ENGAGE
AUGERS
1.
Toengagethe augersand startthrowingsnow,squeezethe
augercontrol againstthe left handle.Releaseto stop the augers.
REPLACING
SHEAR
PiNS
The augersare securedto the spiralshaft with two shearpinsand cot-
ter pins. if theauger shouldstrikea foreignobjector ice jam, the snow
throweris designedso that the shearpins mayshear.If the augerswill
notturn, checkto see if the pins havesheared.See Figure12.
NEVERreplacethe augershearpinswith anythingotherthan OEM
Part No. 738-04124A replacementshearpins.Any damageto the
augergearboxor othercomponentsas a resultof failingto do so will
NOT be coveredbyyour snowthrower'swarranty.
Alwaysturnoff the snow thrower'sengineand removethe key priortc
replacingshearpins.
