Once theenginestarts, releasestarterbutton.

As the enginewarms,slowlyrotatechokecontrolto the OFF
position.If the enginefalters,quicklyrotatechoke controlback to
FULL I,,a¢lthenslowlyintothe OFF positionagain.

Whendisconnecting the extensioncord, alwaysunplugthe end
at the three-prongwall outlet beforeunplugging the oppositeend
from the snowthrower.
Recoil Starter
1.
Rotatechoke controlto FULL IJl
choke position(coldengine
start).
NOTE: If the engineis alreadywarm, placechokecontrol in the OFF
insteadof FULL IJ|.

Pushthe primertwo or threetimesfor cold enginestart, making
sureto covervent hole in the centerof the primerwhenpushing.
NOTE: DONOT useprimerto restarta warm engineafter a short
shutdown.
NOTE:Additionalprimingmay be necessaryif the temperatureis
below15° Fahrenheit.

Graspthe recoilstarterhandleand slowlypull the ropeout. At the
pointwhereit becomesslightlyharderto pull the rope,slowly
allowthe rope to recoil.
4.
Pull the starterhandlewith a firm, rapid stroke.Donot release
the handleand allowit tosnap back.Keepa firm hold on the
starterhandleand allowit to slowlyrecoil.
5.
As the enginewarms,slowlyrotatethe choke controlto the OFF
position.If the enginefalters,quicklyrotatethe chokecontrol
back to the FULL IJl
positionand thenslowlyinto theOFF
positionagain.
NOTE:Allowthe engineto warm up for a few minutesafter starting.
The enginewill not developfull poweruntilit reachesoperating
temperatures.
STOPPING
THE ENGINE
Runenginefor a few minutesbeforestoppingto helpdry off any
moistureon the engine.
Movethrottlecontrolto STOP
1.

Removethe ignitionkey and store in a safe place.
3.
Wipeall snowand moisturefrom the areaaroundthe engineas
wellas the area in and aroundthe drivecontrol andauger control.
Also,engageand releasebothcontrolsseveraltimes.
TO ENGAGE
DRIVE
1.
With thethrottlecontrol in the Fast_
position,moveshift lever
intoone of the five forward (F)positionsor two reverse(R)
positions.Selecta speedappropriatefor the snow conditionsand
a paceyou'recomfortablewith.
NOTE: Whenselectinga Drive Speed,usethe slowerspeedsuntil
you are comfortableand familiarwiththe operationof the snow
thrower.
2.
Squeezethe drivecontrolagainstthe handleand the snow
throwerwill move.Releaseit and drive motionwill stop.
NOTE:NEVERrepositionthe shift lever(changespeedsor direction
of travel)withoutfirst releasingthedrive controland bringingthesnow
throwerto a completestop.Doingso will resultin premature wearto
the snowthrower'sdrivesystem.
TO ENGAGE
AUGERS
1.
Toengagethe augersand startthrowingsnow,squeezethe
auger controlagainstthe left handle.Releaseto stop the augers.
REPLACING
SHEAR
PiNS
The augersare securedto the spiralshaft with two shearpinsand
bow-tieclips, if the augershouldstrikea foreignobject or icejam,
the snowthroweris designedso that the shearpinsmay shear.If the
augerswill notturn, checkto see if the pins havesheared.See Figure
11.
NEVERreplacethe augershearpinswith anythingotherthan OEM
Part No. 738-04124A replacement s hearpins.Any damageto the
augergearboxor othercomponentsas a resultof failingto do so will
NOT be coveredbyyour snowthrower'swarranty.
Alwaysturnoff the snowthrower'sengineand removethe key priortc
replacingshearpins.
