Problem
The system freezes or
the screen goes dark.
The system never goes
into Hibernate mode.

mode when the battery is

The Infrared device does
not work.
You hear a series of
beeps and the computer
shuts down.
7 - 18 Operation
The system's power saving features have timed-out. Use the AC adapter, press the sleep
(Fn + Esc) key combination, or press the power button if no LEDs are lit.
A software conflict made the system "crash". Consult your OS manual. As a last resort,
since you will lose any unsaved data, try to reboot the system or if that doesn't work, turn
the computer off and on again.
Make sure you have enabled Hibernate in the Power Options control panel in your OS
(see
"Hibernate" on page 3 -
No power saving options are enabled. Use one of the Power Options presets.
The IrDA port is blocked. Make sure nothing is between your system's IrDA port and the
destination's port (the IrDA operates on a "Line of Sight").
Support for IrDA/AskIR/FIR type infrared devices is disabled. Enable the support for these
types of devices in the BIOS Setup under the Components menu (see
Configuration (Advanced Menu)" on page 5 -
The computer's overheating alarm system has shut the computer down. Allow the
computer to cool down and then restart it. Make sure the vents aren't blocked and the
computer isn't sitting on a thermal surface (see
