Windows Media Video (.wmv)
The Windows version of Soundbooth supports Windows Media Video, Microsoft's format for compressed,
streaming video. Typically, WMV files are viewed in Windows Media Player, but other applications and plug-ins also
support this format.

Options for audio, AVI, and MOV formats

mp3 options
When you save in .mp3 format, Soundbooth provides the following options:
Determines the rate in kilobits per second. Higher rates increase file size and audio quality; lower rates
Bitrate
reduce size and quality.
Applies one of two compression and decompression options. The Best Quality option provides more
Mode
high-frequency detail and does a very good job at lower bit rates, without introducing unwanted artifacts. The Fastest
option encodes audio very quickly but produces lower quality.
Encodes audio either in mono, which reduces file size, or stereo, which increases file size but retains
Mono or Stereo
spatial information.
AIF, AVI, MOV, and WAV options
When you save in AIF, AVI, QuickTime (MOV), or WAV format, the Save As Options dialog box appears. This
dialog box provides a compact group of settings that you can quickly optimize.

Audio options
The following options are available in the Audio section of the Save As dialog box:
Specifies the audio codec, if any. The codecs available depend on the platform and file format. In
Compressor
Mac OS, only the Uncompressed option is available. In Windows, DV AVI supports only the Uncompressed option,
but WAV and standard AVI provide these additional options:
Compresses 16-bit audio to 4-bit. This compression scheme can be a good alternative to MPEG-1; it
IMA ADPCM
provides fairly fast decoding and degrades audio quality only slightly.
Compresses 16-bit audio to 4-bit using a slower method than IMA ADPCM, but quality can be
Microsoft ADPCM
superior, depending upon audio content.
Compresses 16-bit audio to 8-bit, but produces dynamic range equivalent to13 bits (78 dB). This
CCITT A-Law
compression scheme is the standard for European telephone systems.
