Setting up the system

Connecting the antennas

AM loop antenna
The supplied loop antenna is for use indoors. Place it as far as possible
from the receiver, TV set, speaker cords and power cord, and adjust
the direction for best reception.
AM antenna terminal connections
1 Push lever.
2 Insert cord.
FM indoor antenna
The supplied indoor antenna is for temporary use only. For stable
signal reception we recommend using an outdoor antenna. Disconnect
the indoor antenna when you connect one outdoors.
FM antenna terminal connections
Insert antenna adapter.
FM outdoor antenna
Lead the 75Ω coaxial cable connected to the FM outdoor antenna into
the room and connect it to the FM 75Ω terminal.

Preparing for surround sound

Speaker settings

To enable you to obtain optimum enjoyment from the amplifier's listen-
ing modes, make sure to complete the speaker settings (Subwoofer,
Front, Center, Surround and Surround Back speakers) as described
below.
ON/STANDBY
only for the U.S.A. and Canada
If you purchase HTB system, you may skip step 2 to 4.
Original settings of this Receiver are adjusted to system
speakers.
The original settings are

Turn on the power to this amplifier by pressing the ON/
STANDBY

Press the SETUP key to enter the SETUP mode.
Use the MULTI CONTROL∞¥5 keys or TRIM∞¥5 keys to select
the "SP SETUP"

3 DISTANCE
4 SP EQ
5 DIMMER
6 EXIT

Press the SETUP key to select the 6ch AMP setting.
The Surround Back and Subwoofer output selections are displayed
as follows:
1 BS/SW SW
2 BS/SW BS
3 BS/SW OFF
Use the MULTI CONTROL∞¥5 keys or TRIM∞/5 keys to select the
speakers.
Press the SETUP key to proceed to the next SETUP selection.
