details.
How does the administrator retrieve a
forgotten password?
As a security feature, no remote access is provided to inspect the administrator's
password. If you cannot recall the password, then there is a method to reset the whole
appliance. This involves pressing the power button four times once the appliance has
booted and in its "four square" mode. The LCD will then display the text "Repeat
button sequence to confirm reset" Four more presses of the power switch confirms
the command and resets the appliance. This will also reset the networking
configuration of the appliance, and the installation utility on the Installation
CD-ROM will need to be run again.
Note this will NOT destroy any backup accounts or data stored on the appliance
How does the administrator find out a
client's password?
A clients password cannot be accessed by the administrator. The administrator does
have the power to clear the password, allowing a new one to be entered in its place.
Clearing an account password removes the existing password from an account,
allowing anyone to obtain access as that account. This can be used, for example, to
allow a user who has forgotten their password to access their files. Entering the new
password can ONLY be done from the clients computer, not via the web based
administrators interface.
