Chapter 4. Configuring the server
The ServerGuide Setup and Installation CD provides software setup tools and
installation tools that are specifically designed for your IBM server. Use this CD
during the initial installation of the server to configure basic hardware features and
to simplify your operating-system installation.
In addition to the ServerGuide Setup and Installation CD, you can use the following
configuration programs to customize the server hardware:
v Configuration/Setup Utility program
v IBM ServerGuide Setup and Installation CD
v Preboot Execution Environment (PXE) boot agent utility program
v RAID configuration programs
v SCSISelect utility program
v Service processor firmware update utility
Using the ServerGuide Setup and Installation CD
The ServerGuide Setup and Installation CD provides state-of-the-art programs to
detect the server model and installed hardware options, configure the server
hardware, provide device drivers, and help you install your operating system. For
information about the supported operating-system versions, see the label on the
CD.
Complete the following steps to start the ServerGuide Setup and Installation CD:
1. Insert the CD, and restart the server. If the CD does not start, see "ServerGuide

Using the Configuration/Setup Utility program
The Configuration/Setup Utility program is part of the BIOS code. You can use it to:
v View configuration information
v View and change assignments for devices and I/O ports
v Set the date and time
v Set and change passwords
v Set the startup characteristics of the server and the order of startup devices
v Set and change settings for advanced hardware features
v View and clear error logs
