Getting started with the STEVAL-DPSG474Q digital power supply control board
Introduction
The
STEVAL-DPSG474Q
is a digital power supply control board based on the STM32G474QE microcontroller from the
STM32G4 family. The STM32G474QE microcontroller includes the high-performance Arm Cortex®-M4 32-bit RISC core
operating at up to 170 MHz, a floating-point unit (FPU), a full set of digital signal processing (DSP) instructions, and high-speed
embedded memories (512 KB of flash memory and 128 KB of SRAM). The device integrates peripherals that accelerate
mathematical and arithmetic functions, including a CORDIC unit for trigonometric functions and an FMAC unit for filter functions.
The microcontroller offers five fast 12-bit ADCs (5 Msps), seven ultrafast comparators, six operational amplifiers, seven DAC
channels (three external and four internal), a low-power real-time clock (RTC), 32-bit timers, three timers dedicated to motor
control, seven general-purpose 16-bit timers, one 16-bit low-power timer, and a high-resolution timer (HRTIM) with 184 ps
resolution, specifically designed for power conversion systems.
The board is equipped with two connectors: a 68-pin digital interface and a 32-pin analog main interface designed for integration
with a power board. It delivers comprehensive PWM control signals, sensing networks, and built-in protection mechanisms
necessary to support a broad spectrum of digital power supply applications. The board can be powered by an external 5 V
supply, which may be connected via a dedicated USB port or through the main analog connector.
The board incorporates a standard STDC14 14-pin connector dedicated to programming and debugging, alongside an available
virtual COM port interface. Additional connectors support I²C, SPI, UART, and various other I/O interfaces. User interaction is
facilitated through an integrated reset button and a user-configurable button. Multiple test points are provided for comprehensive
analog and digital signal diagnostics. To enhance the interaction capabilities of the STEVAL-DPSG474Q, opto-isolated serial
communication interfaces and dedicated connectors are also integrated.
