7-3-3 Engaging the AP380 in wind mode
Manually steer the boat to
open waters. Sail straight at
the intended wind angle.
The Explorer AP380 info
data can display TRUE
(true wind angle) or APP
(apparent wind angle) (see
section 6-6)
To engage AUTO,
press
AUTO:
The AP380 steers the boat automatically.
The Explorer AP380 sets CTS (course to steer) to the current heading, in this
example 45°, sets SWA (set wind angle) to the current wind angle and starts
steering at this wind angle.
To disengage the AP380, press
The Explorer AP380 can also be engaged on the
starboard tack, for example:

APP = P40°
SWA = 45°
The AP380 returns to STBY (standby). Steer the
boat manually.
APP = S40°
SWA = 40°

To engage HAND STEER,
hold
HANDSTEER:
Steer the boat manually. Display CTS in
the info data or course error in the bar
data and use these to steer by.
Wind
APP = P40°
SWA = 45°
or when running, for example:

APP = S120°
SWA = 120°
