hardware description and user information

Important tips

In zoned solutions such as those using the MDS600 storage enclosure, the 512 MB model
HP P700m Controller is required. In addition, for RAID 6 support, the battery option kit is
required.
If needed, upgrade to the latest firmware version before use.
HP Smart Array Server Software is supported for use with the P700m and its servers, but it is
important to note that the MSA2000 family does not use the Smart Array storage device
management software tools of ACU, ADU, and Storage Event Notification Service. The
MSA2000 family of storage enclosures use MSA2000-specific storage management software.
For more information about the MSA, see
(page
31).
In BladeSystem solutions using the 3Gb SAS BL Switch, only one P700m is supported per
server blade node. And, the mezzanine slot in which you install the P700m and the
BladeSystem server device bay in which you install the server blade determine the BladeSystem
interconnect bay in which you must install the SAS switches. For details about the relationship
between the server type, mezzanine slot, server device bay, and interconnect bay, see the
following tables.
