4.15.4. Installing a New Disk

IMPORTANT INFO:
In the event that an individual hard disk fails
in the Network Space MAX, please contact your LaCie reseller or
LaCie Customer Support before replacing the drive to ensure you
do not void your warranty. Please replace a defective hard drive only
with a new drive provided by LaCie.
CAUTION:
After continuous use of the Network Space MAX, drives
may be hot. Use caution when removing.
To remove a disk:
1. Identify the failed disks by checking the
page.
2. Turn off the Network Space MAX and unplug the power supply.
3. Turn the hard disk box over so the rubber feet are pointing up.
Please note the two plastic bands for prying the bottom plate
from the top shell. Open the casing by taking one plastic band
in each hand, between the thumb and index finger, and pull
gently until the bottom plate and the top shell have come apart
(Fig.
90).
4. If disk 2 has failed, gently detach the top disk from the SATA
connector and remove it from the casing. If disk 1 has failed,
first detach the top disk (disk 2), then detach the bottom disk
(disk 1).
