Virus Prevention and Detection

The primary purpose of NAS is file serving. It is very likely files will be accessed by multiple
protocols (CIFS, NFS, HTTP, etc.) of which there will be many users. It is extremely important
that procedures and systems be in place to prevent a potential disaster (corruption, data loss,
system loss, etc.) via infection and that appropriate recovery schemes are planned in the event of
infection.

there is no need to safeguard against viruses. However, it is very likely that these NAS servers
will be used to host files from applications that have been inundated with viruses and worms.
