Removes the selected physical volume and it's encompassing Volume Group from the

system. All Logical Volumes, file systems and data on the device(s) will be lost.
Add Device to a New Volume Group...
Adds the selected device to a newly created Volume Group.

Add Device to Existing Volume Group...
Adds the selected device to a Volume Group. This increases the size of the Volume

Group.

Managing Logical Volumes and Volume Groups

The Logical Volumes / Volume Groups page allows you to manage attached disk and RAID
storage devices similar to the Logical Volume Manger level and requires a detailed knowledge
of UNIX system administration and the Logical Volume Manager.
Caution: Incorrect use of these tools will result in data loss.
From the NAS web interface Storage tab, navigate to Advanced Setup > Local Storage and
select Logical Vols/Volume Groups.
This page displays information on Logical Volumes and Volume Groups. Detailed knowledge of
Logical Volume Manager (LVM) theory is required to interpret and use this page.

Logical Volumes

The top grid on this page displays the Logical Volumes (LVs) configured in LVM. The LV name,
size and mount point are displayed. Menu picks allow you to manage these Logical Volumes.

Action menu picks

Force Hardware Rescan
Will cause the server to scan it's hardware interface for attached disk and storage
o
devices. This may take several minutes on large system configurations.
Details
Will display detailed information on a selected Logical Volume, such as it's Logical
o
Volume name, Volume Group name, status, and sizes.
Mount
If unmounted, mounts the selected Logical Volume on the server file system.
o
Unmount
If mounted, unmounts the selected Logical Volume from the server file system.
o
Delete Logical Volume
Deletes the Logical Volume. All data on the Volume will be destroyed.
o
Extend Logical Volume Size
Extends the size of the selected Volume. The Free MB in VG grid field will display the
o
amount of space available in the VG for expansion.
Reduce Logical Volume Size
Reduces the Volume size. The file system on the Volume will be unmounted, reduced in
o
size, reformatted and remounted. All data on the Volume will be destroyed.
