NFS Settings

NFS Settings
Network File System (NFS) settings are optional. NFS is a client/server application that lets a
computer user view and optionally store and update files on a remote computer as though they
were on the user's own computer.
1. Using the NAS web interface, click the Configuration tab.
2. Navigate down the System Configuration tree to the Networking Settings and select
NFS.
3. A table displays a list of exported file systems and their associated access lists.
4. Select a file system from the list.
5. Click the Action button for available choices in managing your NFS settings.

Note that as you make changes to your NFS settings, the status column will list the change as
pending. You may have multiple simultaneous pending changes. Changes do not take effect
until you click apply.
If desired, you may change the number of Network File System Daemon (NFSD) processes. This
value specifies the number of NFSD processes that are created on the NAS device. This value
takes affect immediately; NFS is restarted with the new number of daemons. This setting has a
direct affect on NFS performance.
A single NFSD process (for example, a value of 1) can support many NFS clients, but

it must provide service in a sequential fashion. This would create performance issues
if more than one NFS client was trying to access the NAS device.
A large number of NFSD processes could support the same number of NFS clients,
o
but do so in parallel, thus increasing the performance for the clients. The more NFSD
processes you have, the more system resources are used. Specifying a large value
could also result in poor performance.
You can use a minimum value of 1 and a maximum value of 128. If you are you using your
NAS device primarily as an NFS server, HP recommends that you increase the value of
this setting.
5. Click Apply.
You do not need to restart the system.
