71515 New Dovetail Marker

To Use
1.
Determine the tail and pin boards and
then layout the desired dovetail pattern.
NOTE: Traditionally the 1:8 (outside)/1:10
(inside) ratio side is for hardwood and the
1:5 (outside)/1:6 (inside) ratio side is best
for softwood.

Use a marking gauge to measure the
depth of the pin board and mark all the
way around the tail board.
3.
Use the dovetail marking gauge to
measure and mark the tails.

4.
Start from the top and cut the tails. Cut
toward the base of the tails on both
sides. To remove the wood between the
tails, begin to cut or chisel along your
mark, chisel away from the front. When
you reach the center, flip the board and
continue. Clean up the tail board.
5.
Measure the depth of the tail board and
mark all the way around the pin board.
6.
Align the tail board and pin board,
measure and mark the pin board.
7.
Start from the top and cut the pins, use
chisel to remove the wood between the
pins. Clean up the pin board.
8.
Place the pieces together to complete.
