2. Safety 2.1 Intended use The FLC-UFL series ultrasonic flow meter is designed to measure the volume flow rate and velocity of gases in pipelines. Optionally, it can convert the measured gas volume flow to base conditions and record meter readings, diagnostics and additional data.
Ensure that the necessary construction is in place to properly support the instrument. The instrument must be installed in a stress-free condition. The FLC-UFL series flow meter is suitable for use in pressurised lines within the design conditions specified on the flow meter nameplate. 2.2 Improper use Any use beyond or different to the intended use is considered as improper use.
The labelling, safety markings must be maintained in a legible condition. Product labels (example) Nameplates and labels are placed on the FLC-UFL series flow meter for identification purposes and to provide details about the specific product, along with safety-related information. Together with the safety instructions and this manual, it provides clear guidance on the product’s intended use, design and certification.

Changes in the velocity of sound caused by pressure or temperature fluctuations do not affect the calculated velocity of gas with this measurement method. The FLC-UFL series ultrasonic gas flow meter calculates the volume flow rate based on the velocity of gas and the meter body’s internal diameter.
4. Design and function 1.1.2 Main board power supply The FLC-UFL series flow meter requires an external intrinsically safe power supply. Signal Function PWR - Power supply PWR + WARNING! The power supply interfaces of the FLC-UFL flow meters are reverse polarity protected up to max.
Digital output + 1.1.5 Slot 2 – P/T option board The FLC-UFL series flow meter can be equipped with an optional pressure/temperature board, enhancing the system with pressure and temperature measurement capabilities. This allows the instrument to calculate base volume using PTZ conversion. Pressure and temperature sensors are supplied by Euromisure.
When equipped with this option board, a passive (externally powered) mA output is available. The output can be configured via WIKA Flow Manager software for any parameter required; however, normally it is used for flow rate, velocity of gas etc. Using the PC tool WIKA Flow Manager, it can be configured and calibrated.
USB connector Keys Lock switch The front of the FLC-UFL electronics features a 128x128 dot matrix LCD graphic display. (laptop or computer). It should only be used in a safe area or with appropriate precautions such as gas detection. Refer to the FLC-UFL series safety instructions for further details. The parameter lock switch is located below the USB connector and provides a way to lock all relevant parameters.
WARNING! To avoid possible strain, ensure your lifting equipment is suitable for the weight of the FLC-UFL series flow meter. Always use the lifting eye bolts provided on the meter body and make sure to use approved lifting equipment and that the equipment shows no damage or wear.
5. Commissioning and operation The FLC-UFL series flow meter is shipped in a wooden crate. ▶ To open the crate, remove the top panel nails or screws and disassemble the box. Remove the transport fixtures and then move the flow meter to the mounting location using the lifting eye bolts provided on the flow meter.
1.1.7 Option board identification To identify the option boards installed in the FLC-UFL series flow meter, locate the electronics model number on the SPU label. Refer to the table in the control drawing to determine the installed option boards.

Velocity of sound ratio (VoS ratio) The velocity of sound ratio is a good indicator of problems, either in the process or in the FLC-UFL series signal detection. During normal condition the ratios should be very close to 1.0. Path status (PathStatus AB and PathStatus BA) The path status diagnostic values provide a more detailed indication of the health of each path in each direction of transmission using an 8-digit number.
1. Before cleaning, correctly disconnect the instrument from the pressure supply, switch it off and disconnect it from the mains. 2. Only clean the FLC-UFL series ultrasonic flow meter with a damp cloth. Do not use solvents for cleaning. Do not expose the electrical connections to moisture.
For these media, in addition to all standard regulations, the appropri- ate existing codes or regulations must also be followed. 8.1 Dismounting Dismounting must only be carried out by personnel authorised by the manufacturer. WIKA operating instructions, ultrasonic flow meter model FLC-UFL...
