DVD-ROM and Floppy Drive Installation

The top cover of the chassis must be opened to gain access to the DVD-ROM
and fl oppy drive bays. The 6035B-8R/6035B-8 accomodates only slim DVD-ROM
drives. Side mounting brakets are typically needed to mount a slim DVD-ROM drive
in the 6035B-8R/6035B-8 server.
To remove the DVD-ROM or fl oppy drive carrier, fi rst power down the system and
then remove the top cover of the chassis. Push the latch located at the rear of the
DVD-ROM or fl oppy drive bay and then push the drive bay out through the front
of the chassis. See Figures 6-6 and 6-7 for illustrations of removing these drives.
The illustrations also show how to mount each drive on the rails, which are needed
to slide them into the open chassis bays. Reverse this procedure to re-install the
drives, making sure the latch clicks when re-inserting the drive bay into the chassis.
Replace the top cover when fi nished.
Note: The red wire on a ribbon cable typically designates the location of pin 1.
