Shop Commissioning via HHT Commissioning refers to the process of testing the instrument and validating the configuration thereof. Commissioning includes verifying the proper operation of an APT3200 Pressure Transmitter with an HHT supporting HART communication before, and after installation, and also includes the process of understanding the operating procedure thereof.
APT3200 Smart Pressure Transmitter Operation Manual: M3200-18E001 4. INSTALLATION 4-1. Overview This chapter provides detail information on procedure and instructions for transmitter installation, installation drawings, and further considerations for installation. 4-2. Safety Message Procedures and instructions for installation and operations require special precautions to ensure safety of the personnel performing these operations.
APT3200 Smart Pressure Transmitter Operation Manual: M3200-18E001 4-4. Commissioning (Shop and/or ON-site) Transmitter shall be operated upon the commissioning of an authorized personnel before and/or after installation. However, it is useful to operate the transmitter at a work bench under the supervision of an authorized personnel prior to installation to learn how to properly operate the transmitter, and to be familiar with each function.
For APT3200 products using gauge pressure sensors for low pressure input ranges (Range Codes G1 ~ G4), compensates the atmospheric pressure with the vent hole located on the bottom of the transmitter.
APT3200 Smart Pressure Transmitter Operation Manual: M3200-18E001 Install cables away from electrical noise resources such as capacitative transformers, motors, power supplies. Remove electrical lead connection cap before wiring. Apply waterproof sealants on conduit screws. (Non-hardening silicon based sealants is recommended) Do not install signal lines and power lines in the same cable duct to prevent noise on signal lines.
◈ Transmitter covers must be fully compliant with explosion proof requirements. A. Loop Configuration AUTROL series transmitters adopt a two-wire loop powered system. The signal line is utilized with the power lead, and the DC power supply to the transmitter is connected as shown below.
APT3200 Smart Pressure Transmitter Operation Manual: M3200-18E001 2) Intrinsically Safe Type requires a safety barrier to be installed in the loop. B. Wiring Installation General purpose and intrinsically safe type Use metallic conduit or waterproof cable glands. – Apply a non-hardening sealant to the terminal on the transmitter and flexible conduit to achieve a waterproof configuration.

APT3200 Smart Pressure Transmitter Operation Manual: M3200-18E001 4-8-1. Mounting Brackets are required when mounting in an environment exposed to significant vibration. For severe vibration, mounting to a pipe with appropriate mounting brackets available as an option is recommended. 4-8-2. Transmitter Access Considerations Accessibility of transmitter is a key point of emphasis for deciding installation location.
4.-9-2. Humid / Corrosive Environment Housing of APT3200 transmitters is designed to be protected from humid or corrosive substances. Electronic circuits are separated from terminal side. O-ring Seal protects housing internals when engaging the cover. However, under humid environments, moisture may accumulate in the conduit pipe line and ingress toward the transmitter housing.
5-4-1.Process Variable The APT3200 Smart Pressure Transmitter measures two process variables, where the PV (Primary Variable) is always the process pressure, and the SV (Secondary Variable) is the temperature at the sensor. The measured PV is converted to a 4-20mA analog output proportional to the configured range.
APT3200 Smart Pressure Transmitter Operation Manual: M3200-18E001 5-6. Detailed Setup 1) Set Fail Mode In case of sensor malfunction or error in microprocessor, the output is fixed at high or low current. 2) Set Damping Time Dampen the output fluctuation upon a rapid change in sensor input. Determine damping time between 0 and 60 seconds, where default configuration is 1.0 second.
APT3200 Smart Pressure Transmitter Operation Manual: M3200-18E001 5-9. Calibration Calibrate transmitter to improve measuring system accuracy. Various Trim functions are available for calibration. Smart transmitters shall be calibrated in a different manner from previous analog transmitters. In other words, the characterization curve of the reference sensor is stored on the transmitter, and this characterization curve data is used to calculate the process variable corresponding to the sensor input value.
APT3200 Smart Pressure Transmitter Operation Manual: M3200-18E001 6. MAINTENANCE 6-1. Overview This chapter describes diagnostics and maintenance functions of the transmitter. 6-2. Safety Message Operations require special precautions to ensure safety of the personnel. Information that requires special attention are indicated by a warning symbol (▲). Whenever performing a task with such symbol, please refer to the relevant safety message 6-2-1.
APT3200 Smart Pressure Transmitter Operation Manual: M3200-18E001 6-3. Hardware Diagnostics If you suspect malfunction notwithstanding the absence of an error message on HHT, observe trouble shooting provided in Table 6-1 to check and confirm the hardware and/or wiring of the transmitter.
