    • The Copilot complies with all laws and regulations applicable for use on public roads. The use of the Copilot as a racing or cross bike is beyond responsibility of Huka. •...

    WARRANTY Huka has a standard 5-year warranty on the frame and front fork of your Copilot. You also have a 2 year warranty on the battery and other parts. All warranties are carried out by your Huka dealer. • The warranty does not apply to damage or defects to the Copilot caused by improper or injudicious use.
  • Page 9 TIP FROM DANNY Write down the frame number of your Copilot below. The number is important for warranties, repairs or in case your tandem is stolen for reporting to your insurance company. The number can be found just above the bottom bracket on the back of the seat post on the frame tube.

    SAFE ON THE ROAD In addition to your agility on the Copilot, which will improve as you use it, it is important that your tandem is in optimal condition when you hit the road.

    BOARDING AND CYCLING Make sure the Copilot is on the stand so that the tandem remains stationary. This way you can get on and off more safely. Put it in first gear (if applicable) so you can pedal more lightly.

    CYCLING WITH PEDAL ASSISTANCE If your Copilot is equipped with pedal assistance, the electric motor is turned on as soon as you start pedaling. Pedaling then becomes lighter. If you stop pedaling, the pedal assistance will also stop.

    Control keys Bafang BATTERY INDICATION If your Copilot is equipped with pedal assistance, the display will indicate how full the battery is. Check if the battery is full when you travel (longer) distances. The black block gets shorter as the battery gets empty. If the pad is completely black, the battery is full.

    MOVING AND CARRYING THE TANDEM To move or carry the tandem, you can grab the tandem at the back side by the luggage carrier and at the front by the head tube. We recommend lifting the tandem with at least two people. While lifting, also hold the handlebars to prevent the front wheels and handlebars from spinning and possibly causing injury.

    Product Description Your Copilot consists of several components. We describe the most important parts in this section. BIKE FRAME The frame of the Copilot consists of tubular metal construction supplemented by aluminum and stainless steel components. Most metal parts are phosphated and then provided with an impact-resistant powder coating.

    Huka dealer. CHAIN & CHAIN GUARD The chain guard is specially designed for the Copilot and made of an impact- resistant plastic. The chain guard protects the chain from dirt and water and also ensures that the chain cannot dirty your legs or clothing.

    GEARS Your Copilot 3 has standard an 8-speed Shimano Nexus hub with coaster brake. Optional a 8-speed Nexus freewheel hub is available. If your Copilot 3 is equipped with electric pedal assistance, a 7 speed derailleur gear will be used. At delivery your Huka dealer has checked and adjusted the gears. The explanation of the gear hub can be found in the manual of Shimano.

    The Copilot features battery-powered LED lights with low power consumption. Batteries (type AA) are available at various stores. If your Copilot is equipped with electric pedal assistance, the lights are connected to the battery and do not contain separate batteries. You turn the lights on and off via the controls on the handlebars.

    If you use the luggage carrier, distribute the luggage as best you can. The maximum load for this is 25 kg. Total max load Copilot 24: 80 kg co-driver + 100 kg main driver + 20 kg luggage = 200 kg.

    ACCESSORIES Your Copilot can be expanded with various accessories. Think of trunk support, foot collection, bags, etc. You can find more about these options on our price list on our website www.huka.nl or you can contact your dealer.

    FIXING PARTS It is important that crucial parts on the tandem are properly tightened. These parts should be tightened to the correct torque.     Optimal use Upon delivery of your new Huka, the components are properly adjusted to your body and tailored to your needs. To make sure you sit comfortably, there are adjustment options to flexibly adjust the saddle and handlebars. SADDLE HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT 1.

    Saddle height with quick tensioner Setting the saddle angle Saddles and handlebars should be securely fastened. Loose saddles increase the risks of dangerous situations in traffic. Good posture also depends on the correct handlebar height. The handlebar height, handlebar angle and angle setting of the stem and handlebars can therefore be adjusted.

    SETTING THE STEERING ANGLE Using a size 6 Allen wrench, loosen the angle adjustment bolt slightly to allow the handlebars to rotate. Now turn the handlebars in to the desired angle. Now retighten the angle adjustment bolt securely according to the described tightening torque on page 22.

    TIRE PRESSURE Make sure you always inflate your tires properly. This will prevent wear and tear on the tires of your Copilot. It also makes cycling more comfortable and allows you to react better to braking and steering movements. The correct tire pressure is reached when you can press the tire just a little with your thumb.

    Check tire pressure and tread regularly for optimal grip on the road. The tires of the Copilot can be inflated with a normal bicycle pump. The desired tire pressure is 4 bar. After inflating, check that the valve does not leak. Spread some saliva over the valve stem.

    TIRE PASTE Did you find out that a tire on the Copilot 3 is flat and do you want to repair it yourself? Needed: a repair kit (with tire levers, glue, stickers and sandpaper), trestle or jack, scissors, bicycle pump and a bucket of water.

    The spoke check is easily performed by strumming the finger along the spokes like on a guitar. A spoke with an abnormal tone is likely to be loose. Your Huka dealer can do the repair for you. CHAIN The chain should be cleaned and lubricated once a quarter.

    BATTERY CHARGING If your Copilot is equipped with pedal assistance, check that the battery is still sufficiently charged before you ride. Depending on the capacity, charging takes between 3 and 6 hours. Always use the original battery charger supplied.

    DISPOSAL PRODUCT Are you no longer using the Copilot? Then contact your Huka dealer. They can guide you with a possible sale or trade-in of it. If you want to dispose of your Copilot, you can also contact your local waste disposal company. They will dispose of the bike according to the regulations and laws in force in your hometown.
  • Page 39 SELLING THE COPILOT If you want to sell your Copilot to another user, it is important that you hand over all the necessary technical documentation so that the new owner can use the tandem safely. We recommend that you have the bike checked by your Huka dealer before the sale to ensure that the Copilot is sold in good condition.
