  • Page 8 TIP FROM MURAT Write down the frame number of your Duet below. The number is important for guarantees, repairs or in case your wheelchair bike is stolen to report to your insurance company. The number can be found just above the bottom bracket on the back of the seat post on the frame tube.

    SAFE ON THE ROAD As well as your dexterity on the Duet, which will improve as you use it, it is important that your wheelchair bike is in optimum condition when you hit the road.

    Adjust your speed before turning so that all wheels stay on the ground. Leaning in helps with this. • For safety reasons, the Duet should not be ridden by the cyclist alone. • Always lock your wheelchair bike when parking it using the cable lock.

    Do not engage the parking brake when parked. This may damage the hydraulic system. CYCLING WITH PEDAL ASSISTANCE If your Duet has pedal assistance, the electric motor is activated as soon as you start pedaling. Pedaling becomes lighter. When you stop pedaling, the assistance stops as well.

    • The height of the footrest (2) can be adjusted on the footrest frame as well as on the Duet by sliding the fixing blocks (3). ADJUSTING THE FOOTBOARD The footboard can be moved and its angle adjusted.

    Correct tension of the spokes ensures a stable wheelchair bike. Because of the functioning of the new spokes, the wheels of your Duet need to be checked after 200 kilometers or 2 months. Your Huka dealer can take care of that.

    With a good chain tension, your Duet will pedal lightly and you will not hear the chain. If you notice that the chain is too slack, have it adjusted by your Huka dealer.

    Various (modified) pedals are available as an option. GEARS Your Duet is standard equipped with 3 gears with back-pedal brake (as an option 8 gears) or rim brake in the rear wheel. Upon delivery your Huka dealer has checked and adjusted the gears. The explanation of the gear hub can be found in the Shimano manual.

    If you use the luggage carrier, distribute the luggage as well as possible. The maximum load for this is 20 kg. The total maximum load for the Duet is 80 kg co-driver + 100 kg driver + 20 kg luggage = 200 kg.

    PAS VARIO PEDAL ASSISTANCE With the Pas Vario pedal assistance, you pedal along and the pedaling is supported by the electric motor in the rear wheel. The degree of support can be adjusted with the +/- control buttons on the handlebars and can be read on the display.

    SECURING PARTS It is important that crucial parts of the wheelchair bike are fastened correctly. These parts must be tightened with the correct torque.     Optimal use When you deliver your new Huka, the parts have to be adjusted to your body and tuned to your wishes. To make sure you sit comfortably, there are adjustment possibilities for the saddle and handlebars. ADJUSTING SADDLE HEIGHT 1.

    In this chapter, we will show you the best way to go about this. We also advise you to have your annual maintenance carried out by your Huka dealer. They will check the Duet for functionality, safety and possible wear and tear.

    Regularly check the tire pressure and the tire profile for optimum grip on the road. This will prevent unnecessary wear on the tires of your Duet. It is also a more pleasant ride and you will be able to react better to braking and steering movements.

    FIXING A TIRE Did you find out that one of the Duet's tires is flat? Your Huka dealer can of course fix it. But if you want to do it yourself, here are the instructions. You need: a repair kit (with tire levers, glue, stickers and sandpaper, a jack, scissors, a pump and a bucket of water).
