To clean the printer, from the cleaning kit you will need : An adhesive cleaning card An isopropyl alcohol soaked cleaning cloth / swab. ( Note: For the photos a C30 was used, but a DTC300 and DTC400 use the same method to clean them )

First, remove all cards from the printer, and push down the card loading platform to the bottom until it clicks and holds in the down position. The first part that needs to be cleaned is the ‘Card Feed roller’ – if this is not cleaned properly, the printer will not feed in cards properly.

To clean the ‘Card Feed Roller’ – first remove an isopropyl alcohol swab / cloth from its packet Now send a print job to the printer – this will cause the printer to try and feed in a card and will make the ‘Card Feed Roller’...

Once you have cleaned the ‘Card Feed Roller’ – Press the LEFT hand printer button to cancel the print job you sent. Now open the front cover and remove the ribbon from the printer, The next part that needs to be cleaned, is the three (3) rollers inside the printer above the ribbon. This photo was taken looking into the printer where the ribbon would normally be.

To clean the rollers, spread the isopropyl alcohol soaked cloth / swap over your fingers and hold it against the rollers one at a time while pressing the left and right hand buttons on the printer and moving the cloth over the surface of the rollers while applying pressure to clean them.

Next, you will need an adhesive cleaning card, If your printer has a magnetic encoder – do not remove the lower strip on the cleaning card (pictured) Remove the protective layer on the other side completely : Insert the cleaning card into the card slot of the printer and close the front cover.

Start Settings à Control Panel à Printers & Faxes Right click on the “C30 / C30e / DTC400 / DTC400e Card Printer” and select “Printing Preferences” Click “Clean printer” – then “Clean” Your printer will now start trying to feed in the cleaning card – please assist the printer by pushing the cleaning card and removing it and re-inserting it if necessary as it can sometimes get stuck to the card loading platform.
