1.1 Overview
The MBI-311C-(1C2/1T2N) blade is a compact, self-contained server that connects into a
pre-cabled enclosure that provides power, cooling, management and networking functions. A
Supermicro 6U Microblade enclosure can hold 20 blades. Each blade contains one computing
node. This system inherits Intel IT's disaggregated design architecture and provides significant
refresh savings.
In this manual, "blade" or "blade unit" refers to a single blade, and "blade enclosure" is the
chassis that houses the blades, power supplies and other modules. "Blade system" refers to
the enclosure, blades units, and various management and networking modules.
