REMOVING THE BATTERY

Carefully read p. 76 (BATTERY).
Make sure that the ignition switch is in
u
position " ".
u
Remove the left cover, see p. 65
(REMOVING THE RIGHT AND LEFT
SIDES).
u
Unscrew and remove the screw (1).
u
Remove the battery cover (2).
u
Unscrew and remove the screw (3) on
the negative terminal (–).
u
Move the negative cable (4) sidewards.
u
Remove the red protection element (5).
u
Unscrew and remove the screw (6) on
the positive terminal (+).
u
Move the positive cable (7) sidewards.

CAUTION
Do not force the electric cables.
u
Withdraw the breather pipe (8).
u
Grasp the battery (9) firmly and remove it
from its compartment, by bending it
towards the outside and lifting it.
WARNING
Once it has been removed, the battery
must be stored in a safe place and kept
away from children.
u
Position the battery on a flat surface, in a
cool and dry place.
u
Put back the left cover, see p. 65
(REMOVING THE RIGHT AND LEFT
SIDES).
WARNING
Upon reassembly, connect first the
positive cable (+) and then the negative
cable (–).
NOTE
For the installation of the battery,
see p. 79 (INSTALLING THE BATTERY).
