RECHARGING THE BATTERY

Carefully read p. 76 (BATTERY).
u Remove the battery,
(REMOVING THE BATTERY).
u Prepare an appropriate battery charger.
Set the charger for the desired type of
u
recharge.
NOTE
A recharge with an amperage
equal to 1/10th of the battery capacity is
recommended.
u Connect the battery with a battery
charger.
WARNING
During the recharging or the use, make
sure that the room is properly ventilated
and avoid inhaling the gases released
during the recharging.
u Switch on the battery charger.
u After the recharging operation, check the
electrolyte level again and if necessary
top up with distilled water.
WARNING
Reassemble the battery only 5/10
m i n u t e s a f t e r d i s c o n n e c t i n g t h e
recharge apparatus, since the battery
continues to produce gas for a short
lapse of time.

INSTALLING THE BATTERY

Carefully read p. 76 (BATTERY).
Make sure that the ignition switch is in
u
position " ".
u Remove the left cover, see p. 65
(REMOVING THE RIGHT AND LEFT
SIDES).
NOTE
The

u Put the battery (1) in its compartment.
Upon reassembly, connect first the
positive cable (+) and then the negative
cable (–).

u Connect the positive terminal (+) by
means of the screw (2).
u Connect the negative terminal (–) by
means of the screw (3).
u Put back the red protection element (4).
CAUTION
Upon reassembly always connect the
battery breather pipe, to prevent the
sulphuric acid vapours from corroding
the electric system, painted parts,
rubber elements or gaskets when they
exit the breather pipe itself.
u Put back the breather pipe (5).
u Put back the battery cover (6).
u Position and tighten the screw (7).
u Put back the left cover, see p. 65
(REMOVING THE RIGHT AND LEFT
SIDES).
