4. Remove the Instrument Standard (White Tile).
5. Place the Diagnostic Check Tile (Green Tile) at the port and press MEASURE to continue.
The Diagnostic Check Tile (Green Tile) values were entered at the factory and are also listed on
the back of the tile.
6. If the test fails, clean the Instrument Standard, Diagnostic Check Tile, and/or Reflectance Black
Glass and run the test again. If needed, contact HunterLab's service department. If the test
passes, continue to read samples.
7. (Optional) Select SKIP CHECK TILE to not perform the Diagnostic Check Tile test. Beware
instrument performance may be impacted.

READING SAMPLES

1. Prepare your sample and center it on the port. Press MEASURE.
Note: There are two default WorkSpaces loaded, CIELAB (D65/10) and HunterLab (C/2). These
WorkSpaces cannot be modified. However, you can edit a default WorkSpace and save it as
a new one or create a new WorkSpace based on the existing one and then edit there.

CREATING A STANDARD

1. In the default WorkSpace (Ad hoc/Working standard type), the first sample reading is
automatically set as the standard. To change it, read a new sample, click the pencil icon in
the Sample Name box, and select Set as Standard.
When a new instrument is turned on,
it loads with the following default WorkSpace:

EZ View
Color Scale:
CIELAB Absolute
Ill/Observer:
D65/10-degree
Standard Type:
Ad hoc/Working
