This information is primarily intended for users of the ego. We assume that the ventilation units and any additional ventilation components have been installed and commissioned by qualified personnel. We also assume that it is known which ventilation unit or additional components have been installed and where they are connected.
The ego is an exhaust air unit with heat recovery, which is used in functional rooms such as kitchens, bathrooms, utility rooms and toilets. This fan ensures that stale and moisture-laden air is exchanged or removed. At the same time, the ventilation unit is particularly energy-efficient thanks to the heat recovery option.
The ego can discharge 5, 10 and 20 m³/h with heat recovery. Without heat recovery, the ego can extract 45 m³/ h and even up to 60 m³/h. The basis for selecting the volume flow rates is usually an existing ventilation concept. Questions on this can be answered by the installation company or architectural and planning offices.
The ventilation unit should be serviced regularly. More detailed information can be found in the user information 'Maintenance and cleaning instructions for our ventilation units'.
If the ventilation unit is switched off for a longer period of time, the inner panel must be closed and the filters removed. If the ventilation unit is not used for more than 6 months, it must be serviced by qualified personnel when it is restarted.
The following explanations refer to the ventilation unit that is controlled with the 'Smart Comfort' control unit or the 'Universal control unit' in conjunction with the series switch.
Smart Comfort offers the option of switching all functions of the ventilation unit and recognising its current operating status. It contains a humidity sensor that regulates the ventilation unit as required in automatic mode. The ventilation options are selected using pictograms.
Changed settings are applied after 5 seconds without operation.
Drop — The "drop" symbol activates or deactivates humidity-controlled automatic mode. In automatic mode, LEDs 1 to 4 light up with low brightness.
The active level is displayed at full brightness. In the standard case, the first level is activated at a relative humidity of 50%. From a humidity value of 70%, the highest ventilation level is automatically activated.
Fan — The ventilation levels can be set using the "Fan" symbol. The manual setting of a ventilation level is rolling, i.e. the level is increased by one each time the button is pressed. The highest level is followed by the lowest level or "OFF". When automatic mode is activated, manual changes to the ventilation level are valid for 1 hour.
Window — The "Window" symbol is used to activate or deactivate intensive ventilation mode. If this is active, the LED next to the symbol lights up permanently. The fans go to the highest available ventilation level. The mode ends automatically after the set time. The ventilation system then switches back to the previous operating mode (manual or automatic mode).
Moon — The "Moon" symbol activates or deactivates the night setback. The ventilation units are set to the "OFF" level at the factory and the LEDs do not light up. Only after the set time has elapsed (8 hours by default) do the ventilation units automatically switch back to the previous mode. The LEDs light up again at full brightness. If landlord protection is activated, the fan runs continuously at the lowest level.
Sun — The "Sun" symbol activates or deactivates summer mode. This function is specially designed for the cooler night hours in midsummer. In contrast to operation with heat recovery, where the fans change direction approx. every 70 seconds, the reversing time is now increased to approx. 1 hour, bypassing heat recovery. This allows the cool outside air to enter the heated rooms and cool them passively. If the mode is active, the LED next to the symbol lights up. After 8 hours, this function is automatically deactivated and the normal reversing time is restored.
ON/OFF — The brightness of the LEDs can be adjusted by simply pressing a button. It switches between "OFF", dark and bright. If the button is confirmed for 3 seconds, the fans switch off completely. To switch them on again, simply press the button briefly. If landlord protection is activated, the fans cannot be switched off.
A dirty filter is signaled by the "Event" LED on the control element lighting up continuously. To do this, remove the cover of the inner panel and remove the filter. This can be cleaned in the dishwasher or with water and detergent. The dry filter is then put back into the filter frame holder. The cover of the inner panel must then be snapped into the "open" position.
Our regenerable filters can easily be cleaned 4-5 times before they need to be replaced. The pollen filters can only be cleaned with a vacuum cleaner. If the degree of soiling is too high or the filter is damaged, a new filter must be used.
The filter change indicator is reset by pressing the event button for 3 seconds. This also resets the runtime.
A total of 4 ventilation levels can be selected by pressing the rocker switches. If, as shown in the illustration, both rocker switches are set to the bottom, level 0 is active. This means that the fans run permanently at a very low level or are switched off (depending on the control setting). The so-called humidity control is an exception.
If only the left rocker switch is actuated and the right one remains in the above position, the fan runs at speed I. If the right rocker switch is switched up and the left one remains down, level II is active.
If both rockers are switched upwards, the third stage is activated. The fans deliver the maximum volume flow in this stage.
A overrun time can be activated for the higher ventilation levels. The fan then continues to run in this function for either 15 minutes or 30 minutes (control settings).
When interval operation is switched on, the fan runs every 4 hours for 30 minutes or every 2 hours for 15 minutes at level II.
If this function is set and level 0 is activated on the series switch, the ventilation units automatically exchange the moisture-laden air in volume stages according to demand. This function is signaled by a green LED. It flashes at intervals of approx. 15 seconds on the switch.
If a filter needs to be changed, this is indicated by a permanently red LED on the switch. To do this, please remove the cover of the inner panel and remove the filter.
The filter change indicator is reset by quickly switching the left rocker switch back and forth. If the filter needs to be cleaned before the red LED lights up, this can be done easily. The cleaning interval must be restarted. This is also done by quickly switching the left rocker switch back and forth three times within 3 seconds.
