CHAPTER 3 PROVISIONING VIA TEXT MENU 3.2.4 OAM Configuration Ethernet in the First Mile (EFM) is the nickname of IEEE Std 802.3ah-2004, an amendment to the Ethernet standard, specifying "Media Access Control Parameters, Physical Layers, and Management Parameters for Subscriber Access Networks". The EFM standard was approved by the IEEE Standards Board in June 2004, and officially published on September 7, 2004.
The OAM in 1000EAS/X-2F converter only works on fiber links. Both units on the fiber link must be CTC Union 1000EAS/X-2F units. The OAM mode can be set to one of three choices: disabled, active or passive. In the OAM scheme, the 'active' unit will provide the OAM configuration to 'passive' unit during OAM discovery phase.

CHAPTER 4 PROVISIONING VIA NMC WEB-BASED MANAGEMENT Chapter 4 Provisioning via NMC Web-Based Management 4.1 Introduction In an effort to make networking devices easier to configure, many devices can now be configured via a Web Page, which should be familiar to all Internet users. The NMC web page is accessed by the Default IP Address of the device from a Web Browser such as Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Internet Explorer in the following way: http://10.1.1.1/ (Assuming the Default IP Address is 10.1.1.1)
CHAPTER 4 PROVISIONING VIA NMC WEB-BASED MANAGEMENT Information displayed here shows the model name of this card, firmware version and Chassis ID & Slot number where 1000EAS/X-2F is placed. 4.4 Fiber Information The upper table shows current link status, SFP information, FEF status for fiber 1 and fiber 2. Auto Laser Shutdown: This safety feature, when enabled, will disable the transmit laser if there is no received signal.
CHAPTER 4 PROVISIONING VIA NMC WEB-BASED MANAGEMENT 4.6 802.1Q VLAN Management VID: By default this VID is 1. Set this to the VID that will be used to manage the 1000EAS/X-2F converter over Ethernet. VID (VLAN Identifier): a 12-bit field specifying the VLAN to which the frame belongs. A value of 0 means that the frame does not belong to any VLAN.
CHAPTER 4 PROVISIONING VIA NMC WEB-BASED MANAGEMENT 4.8 Function Key Set Parameters: Click this button to change settings. Device Reset: Restart this device. The reset process will take a few seconds to start. Set Default: Return all settings to factory default values. Refresh Status: Click this button to reload current status.
