FRM220A-1000EAS/X Operation Manual 4.5.4 Spanning Tree Protocol The Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) is a link layer (OSI Layer 2) network protocol that ensures a loop-free topology for any bridged LAN. The basic function of STP is to prevent bridge loops and the ensuing broadcast radiation (storm).
  • Page 79 FRM220A-1000EAS/X Operation Manual The Bridge Priority is a customizable value that you can use to influence which switch becomes the root bridge. The switch with the lowest priority, which means lowest BID, becomes the root bridge (the lower the priority value, the higher the priority). The default value for the priority is 32768 (0x8000).

FRM220A-1000EAS/X Operation Manual 4.5.7 Loop Detection and Protection The new port shut down function for loop-detection allows users to enable the shutdown of a port when the loop detection probe packet is received at a port. Loop detection works by sending out broadcast packets with the source MAC address of the 1000EAS/X itself.

FRM220A-1000EAS/X Operation Manual 4.5.8 Counters There are counters for OAM packets, RMON counters for transmitted and received frames, and detailed counters for each port. They can be viewed under the 'Counter' screen. The OAM counters are available for each fiber port. The "All port" will show only the total transmitted and received frames on each port.
