1 PRECAUTIONS
In order to prevent the equipment from accidents and damages, carefully read the precautions
listed below before servicing the product and follow them closely.
1.1 Safety warning
This product is supplied through a power supply that delivers low voltage. However, usual
safety measures must be handled during servicing this product. Use only RAL Diagnostics
replacements parts. Do not make any unauthorized changes or additions to the product as
these may cause the product to malfunctions and create electric shocks or fire hazards.
1.2 Caution for safety
1.2.1 Biological risk

SmearBox is designed to be safe to operate and maintain. However, service personal

should be aware of the potential sources of danger particularly in using consumables.
It is strongly recommended to read carefully user guide and how to manage the situation in
case of exposure.
Consider all Specimens, Reagents, Calibrators, Controls, etc... that contain
human blood or serum as potentially infectious! Use established right laboratory
working practices when handling specimens. Wear protective gloves, Lab
coats, Safety glasses and/or Face shields, and follow other biosafety practices
as specified in OSHA Blood borne Pathogens Rule (29 CFR part 1910. 1030) or
equivalent bio-safety procedures.

1.2.2 Electric shock and fire safety precautions
Failure in following the instructions below may cause electric shock or potentially cause fire.

Use only the correct voltage (electric validated voltage network), failure to meet so may
damage the product and potentially cause fire or electric shock.
•
Use only the power cable supplied with the product. Use of an unspecified cable may
cause the cable to overheat and potentially cause fire.
•
Do not overload the power socket, this could cause the overheating of cables inside the
walls and could lead to fire.
•
Do not allow water or other liquids to spill on the product. Do not allow paper clips,
pins or other foreign objects to fall into the product, these may cause a short circuit leading to
