5 DISASSEMBLY AND REASSEMBLY

5.1 Overview
This chapter describes procedures for disassembling the main components of the RAL
Unless when specified, disassembled units or components can be reassembled by reversing the
disassembly procedure. Therefore, no assembly procedure will be included in this chapter.
5.2 Tools
Servicing the RAL ® SmearBox requires the following tools:
- Clean and non-marking work surface
- Multi-compartment screw tray (such as a plastic cube tray)
- 1x Pozidriv screwdriver PZ2 (magnetized)
- 1x Phillips screwdriver PH1 (magnetized)

5.3 Disassembly flow

The flowchart below shows procedures for disassembling.

5.4 Disassembly procedures

Even the RAL ® SmearBox is designed to prevent blood hazards as much as possible use
good laboratory practices and wear protective equipment, gloves and lab coats before
disassembly the device.
5.4.1 Bottom part
Before disassembling the bottom part, clean the bin receptacle with a decontamination
solution.
