4 OPERATING PRINCIPLES

4.1 Components description

4.1.1 Mixing wheel

This part of the system receives the blood tube and the consumable.
This mixes the blood by rotating the wheel. It is driven by a stepper motor coupled to a gear
in direct contact with the piercing wheel. A visual marker is used to reference the origin of the
wheel.
Another function is to manage the tube and the consumable by moving the tube. It pierce the
tube, make a drop of blood place the blade of the spreader and throw the consumable to the
bin. It is driven by a stepper gearmotor coupled with racks and gear to the tube trolley. An
optical sensor is used to reference trolley's origin.
The tube trolley motor is a stepper gearmotor coupled with racks and gear. It
delivers a high torque. This movement is protected by the door. However, take
care during movements of the piercer to not place your finger under the trolley.
